Multifunctional classrooms have been needed ever since
teaching methods started using learning arenas for training purposes. It
should be possible to mediate both theory and practical aspects of the
subject in the same room. This is often not the case because the classroom
is too small. The development of mobile learning units means that both
aspects can now be taught in the same room. The teacher / trainer can give
the students hands-on training here – at the Christiani Learning Unit. By
adding other learning units, the students can intensify their training, as
well as trying out and practising real situations.
The learning unit has been designed as a square frame on
castors. The working areas are of galvanised steel plate and fold open to
be used on both sides. This means there are more than 5 m² of working area
on each of the four sides. One to two students per working area can
practice the practical side of a lesson. One of the requirements when
developing the learning unit was that the student can perform mainly
practical work, like in a company or "at the site". It is therefore
intended that the materials found in industry and the trades will be used
here as well.
